Sightseeing through Gran Canary

Dear readers,

like every Friday, we inform you also today about a tourist curiosity of Grand Canary: The Theatre Pérez Galdós in the Capital of the Island Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Constructed in the middle of the XIXth century, it suffered a big fire in 1918 that have destroyed almost the whole building, on having been constructed mostly of wood. It lasted 10 years to reopen it again to the public. It is one of the most emblematic monuments of the city and thanks to the big renovation that have been done in 2007 it is one of the most modern buildings in Spain.

When the Theatre Pérez Galdós was the only cultural space in the city all kinds of plays were celebrated here, operas, concerts, institutional acts and even the carnaval.
Today with the existence of the Auditorium Alfredo Kraus and with the use of the Park of Santa Catalina in Las Palmas for the multitude use of acts it is a more select place for special plays that come to the city and also important festivals as the Opera Festival of Las Palmas of Grand Canaria. Any act celebrated here exhausts with its entrees quickly.

The visits will be able to be realized without previous appointment in the schedule from 10.00 until 13.00 hrs (from Monday until Saturdays), with a duration of 40 minutes. The tickets can be acquired in the shop of the theatre, for 5 euros for person. In case of the groups, the price is 3 euros for person. More information on www.teatroperezgaldos.es.
