On the 8th of September, 2009 the biggest and most important religious party of the island took place on Gran Canaria: "La Fiesta de la Virgen del Pino", a festive day to honour the protective patroness of the island.
In Teror, one of the most original villages of the island, this party is celebrated every year, just as this Tuesday. About 50,000 pilgerer appeared in the small village of Teror, to dance and sing. About 15,000 kg of fruits, vegetables and other food were laid down to the feet of the virgin.
