Touristic Highlights on Fuerteventura

Dear readers,

like every Friday, we inform you about tourist curiosity on Grand Canary or Fuerteventura. Today we present you a highlight on Fuerteventura: The House of the Colonels.

It is a stately building that has been built in 1650 by the famours family Béthencourt.
In stately times this building received the colonels of the military and refelcted its military power by having a notable importance for the administration, military, economy and social point of view for the island. It was reformed in numerous occasions, but the most important reformation has been done during the XVIIIth century.

The House of the Colonels belongs to the most significant domestic architecture of Fuerteventura and has been declared as Artistic Historic Monument in 1979. In its interior you will find a beautiful courtyard landscaped, surrounded with wodden balcony that forms a gallery. At present it offers exhibitions and concerts, but it is also opened to visitors daily.

How to get there:
It is recommendable to rent a car. It is placed in the community of The Olvia, taking the FV-10 from the south, or for the FV-101 from the north of the island. Also it is possible to get there by public transport by bus, from The Olive.
